Sawtell FC will be holding its Junior Competitive (U12s to U17s) presentation day on Saturday 12th September at Boambee Creek Reserve.

As well as the presentations, we will also be providing something to eat & drink to our Sawtell FC players.

We have secured the Harry Weller shelter for the day (just below the railway bridge), so after your presentation is completed, feel free to hang around and use the area to make a relaxing day of it with family & friends. I’m sure there will be many keen for some beach cricket, to kick a ball around, or if the water is warm enough a swim may even be in order.

Finals this Weekend - Commencing with O35's Tonight!

After having 13 out of 19 Sawtell teams make it into the Semi Finals, this weekend sees the 2nd round of Finals, winners this weekend will progress through to the various Grand Finals commencing from Friday 28th August.

So this is the football to watch over the next few days.......

Thursday 20/8/15

Mens Over 35's: CCUFC Lions VS Sawtell Stingers - 6:10 @ Int. Stadium 1

CCUFC finished as Minor Premiers and the Stingers secured 4th spot comfortably before the last round. Shaping up to be a great game. A win may mean another Sawtell VS Sawtell Grand Final

Mens Over 35's: Sawtell Spirit VS Northern Storm - 8PM @ Int. Stadium 1

This is the first in many years that the Spirit haven’t finished Minor Premiers, however securing 2nd spot on the table places them well for another big game. A win may give us another Sawtell VS Sawtell Grand Final

Friday 21/8/15

17 Boys: Urunga Raiders VS Sawtell Scorpions - 6PM @ Urunga 1

Sawtell progressed through by defeating Boambee last week 2-0. This is a team that has a lot of potential Premier League players for next season.

Saturday 22/8/15

12 Boys 2nd Div: Woolgoolga United VS Macksville Stingers - 10AM @ Ayrshire Park 1

Our Sawtell team missed out in progressing to this final going down 3-0 last week to Macksville. But a lot of promise shown by Sawtell in the back end of the season and will be ones to watch out for next year

15 Boys: Boambee Bombers VS Sawtell Scorpions - 11:10AM @ Ayrshire Park 1

Sawtell got to this game by seeing off CCUFC Pride by winning 3-1 last week. This is a team of talented players who have been short on numbers most of the season, but haven’t let that stop them from getting some good results.

14 Girls: Dorrigo Bluegums VS Urunga Raiders - 11:15AM @ Dorrigo 1

Our Sawtell Spirit team will be watching this one from the sidelines after progressing straight through to the grand final after winning on penalties against Dorrigo last week. Our Spirit team also secured the Minor Premiers trophy for the season.

12 Boys 1st Div: Northern Storm Blizzards VS Sawtell Scorpions - 9AM @ Korora 1

Our Scorpions boys secured a hard fought win over CCUFC Lions last week to progress to this match. They are a quality squad coming into their first season on the full field and will be hoping to secure a grand final berth in this game.

13 Boys 1st Div: Northern Storm Tornadoes VS Woolgoolga - 11:40AM @ Korora 1

Our Sawtell Scorpions team progressed straight through to the grand final last week by defeating Northern Storm on penalties. It was a “nail biter” with the result only determined after 9 penalty kicks by each team. The Scorpions have shown their class this season, and will certainly enjoy watching this one from the sidelines. Well done team!

16 Boys: Coffs Coast Tigers VS Sawtell Scorpions - 11AM @ Upper Orara 1

The 16 boys progressed through with a comfortable win over Bellingen last week 4-1. The class and strength of this team has really shown in the second half of the season and we will see a hard-fought game here, that’s for sure

12 Girls: Urunga Raiders VS Bellingen Bats - 10AM @ Urunga 4

Unfortunately our Sawtell Scorpions 12 Girls went down to Bellingen last week, meaning they did not get to progress to the next stage of the finals. However the club is very impressed with the level of commitment and improvement from the girls this year in adapting to the larger field. And with a few younger ones playing up in the 12s this year, we can only expect greater things to come from this team.

Mens 3rd Div: Boambee Bombers VS Sawtell Scorpions - 1PM @ Ayrshire Park 2

Our 3rd Division Scorpions have worked hard to secure a top 4 spot this year, and building on last year’s efforts, they have made some great inroads this season. They played out a great game in their ‘home’ leg of the finals last week, but unfortunately they didn’t have the results go their way being defeated 2-0. However this week is a chance to strike back and hit the back of the net a few times and they will be leaving nothing on the park after this one I’m sure.

Mens 2nd Div: Sawtell Scorpions VS Bellingen - 3PM @ Toormina 1

Our 2nd Division Scorpions have been super competitive on the par all season. They secured the minor premiership and saw off Bellingen in the ‘away’ leg of the finals last week 4-2. The boys will be the only game at Toormina Oval on Saturday, but it would be great to get out there & support them for the ‘home’ leg, and with a buffer of 4 away goals, it will take a lot of work by Bellingen to better them at home. Either way, the team will be off to the Clarence in September to compete in the Zone Championships.

Premier League: Urunga Raiders VS Sawtell Scorpions - 3PM @ Urunga 1

Cementing themselves as a “Top 4” team in the premier league over the past 2 years, the first grade side have consistently sat around 3rd spot on the table for most of the season. They were able to take a 2-0 lead going into half time in the ‘home’ leg against Urunga last week, only to see Urunga come at them hard after losing a couple of key defenders to injuries at half time. The boys will have to work hard this weekend to get the result they need, but the determination, passion and “Sawty mongrel” we have seen from the boys over the past few games will make them a massive handful for Urunga. I’m tipping a 3 goal result to see a Sawtell into the grand final.

Sawtell FC's 1st Round of O35s Games to be Played at Toormina this Thursday Night 14th May

Sawtell FC's three Over 35s teams will finally commence their season this Thursday night 14th May, and the games can be watched down at Toormina Oval!

Normally played at the CeX Stadium, and more recently relegated to the outer Leisure Park fields, the horrific weather that Coffs Harbour received a couple of weeks ago during the Touch World Titles has unfortunately rendered the Leisure Park fields 'unplayable' for the start of the Over 35s competition. At one stage it was looking like we may not get a start until June!

So in an attempt to kick-start the Over 35s competition before the rest of the junior and senior season is already half way through, Sawtell FC have come to the rescue and made Toormina Oval available for games tomorrow night, and you can see the draw below.

So get on down and hopefully you will see three Sawtell FC teams put on a show of good football during the evening.

NNSWF Announces 2015 Girls Football Week Program

In the wake of International Women’s Day, Northern NSW Football (NNSWF) is pleased to announce the 2015 Girls Football Week Program.

A true reflection of International Women’s Day’s 2015 Theme, ‘Make it Happen’, NNSWF’s Girls Football Week was initiated in 2012 to foster appreciation, acknowledgement and support of females currently within football, as well as to encourage and welcome new participants into the sport.

The fourth NNSWF Girls Football Week will take place from 11th until 17th May 2015 with an aim to highlight and appreciate female participation in football across all echelons of the game including playing, coaching, refereeing and volunteering.

The 2015 Girls Football Week program will include NNSWF’s fourth annual Female Football Forum at which clubs are invited to participate with a view to provide NNSWF’s Board of Directors recommendations relating to the growth, promotion and development of women’s football throughout the Region, in addition to a Women’s Leadership Development Workshop, Girls Gala Day and Female Only Grassroots Coaching Course.

Additionally, the week will culminate in Round 10 of the Herald Women’s Premier League on Saturday 16th and Sunday 17th May during which clubs will be encouraged to hold fundraisers in support of the Hunter Breast Cancer Foundation’s (HBCF) Boot Out Breast Cancer Campaign.

In addition to the Herald Women’s Premier League HBCF fundraising round, fellow NNSWF clubs have been invited to participate in the HBCF’s Boot Out Breast Cancer Campaign, or Breast Cancer Network Australia’s Pink Sports Day.

Season Commences This Weekend - 18th April

Hello Sawtell FC players and families.

Other than our senior teams and 14 Boys teams (who kicked off over the last couple of weekends), the first round for everyone else is fast approaching this weekend 18th April (for the 17 Boys it will be Friday night the 17th).

Just a reminder that all players’ online registration (including payment) must be finalised before any player can take the field for their first game. If you have not already done so you can contact sawtellscorpionsfc@gmail.com to arrange where and how to make payment.

Whilst your coach or manager may advise you of your upcoming game times, you can also visit the NCF draw website on http://www.sportingpulse.com/assoc_page.cgi?assoc=8271&pID=1 to check out your game times each week. You can also download the FREE Fox Sports Pulse app for your phone from iTunes or Google Play to get the various draws direct to your smartphone or tablet.

Also please make sure you always liaise with your team coaches & managers if you cannot make training or games. They volunteer their time to run the team throughout the season, and it is helpful for them to know beforehand for their game day preparation if someone cannot make it.

Sawtell FC would like to wish you all the best for the season ahead. Good luck and play well!

Kind regards,

The Sawtell FC Committee
