Sawtell FC Registration Days

And a Chance to Win Back Your Rego Fee!

With the 2010 season looming fast, we have scheduled our registration days for ALL players, junior and senior.

And this year we are offering an EARLY BIRD INCENTIVE! See below for details.

The registration days will be held at Centro Toormina on the following days;

Saturday 6th February - 9am to midday

Saturday 13th February - 9am to midday

Saturday 20th February - 9am to midday

For more details, you can contact Helen on 6658 2513 after hours or email sawtellscorpionsfc@gmail.com

Sawtell FC also hold a Junior Orientation Day after registrations have been finalised and teams have been determined to assist the players and families in familiarising themselves with the club and coaches along with the other players and parents.

The date of this Junior Orientation Day will be advised at registration.

As you can imagine, it is very difficult for the club's Registrar to attend every team's training sessions to finalise registrations (that would mean being at the fields from 4pm to 8pm every weeknight), so we also ask that ALL Senior and Youth players sign up on the above registration days.

And now...... back to that EARLY BIRD INCENTIVE.

One junior player and one senior/youth player will have the opportunity to win back the cost of their registration fee. The conditions are quite simple;

Every junior player that pays their registration in full on or before 13th February 2010 will have their name "put into a hat" (the Junior draw).

Every senior/youth player that pays their registration in full on or before 16th February 2010 will also have their name "put into a hat" (the senior/youth draw).

On a date soon after the close, a name will be randomly drawn from each "hat" to determine those who will be re-imbursed their fee. They will be privately notified on the contact details they have supplied at registration and re-imbursement will be arranged at that time.

We look forward to another successful and enjoyable year for Sawtell FC.

Sawtell FC Commence Pre-Season Training

The Sawtell FC senior mens and womens teams commenced pre-season training in January for preparation of the 2010 season. To date the coaches have reported a good turnout of players for some early evening beach fitness and a bit of fun.

(And in typical Sawtell style, some of the players have even managed to squeeze a quick surf in before training.)

With that in mind the club invites all senior and youth players, both past and present, to join in the pre-season training as there will be plenty of pre-season games and "friendlies" to help prepare for the commencement of Round 1 of the competiton.

If you would like to come down for a run, and would like to know the days, times and location of the pre-season training sessions, feel free to contact the team co-ordinators below.

For senior and youth men, contact 0401 560 944

For senior and youth women, contact 0468 943 755.

We welcome all players back to the club for the 2010 season and look forward to a strong year ahead.

Sawtell FC Club Meetings

Sawtell FC holds regular club meetings at the Sawtell RSL and all players, parents and supporters are welcome to attend to have a say in how your club is run.

We have a very dedicated and hard-working committee and a wonderful band of volunteers, but can always do with assistance. With that said, the club is mindful of not engaging anyone to do more than they are willing to commit to. So even if you can only help out a little, it is always appreciated.

The meetings are held on the 3rd Wednesday of every month in the Sawtell RSL Boardroom. The meeting starts at 7pm. We hope to see you there.

SAWTELL FC SSF CARNIVAL

SAWTELL FC SMALL SIDED FOOTBALL JUNIOR CARNIVAL DAY

On Sunday 14th June, Toormina Oval came alive as more than 50 teams of young players in the under 6, under 7, under 8 and under 9 age divisions came together for a round robin style gala day.

The structure of the day was different from previous years, when all teams used to play off with eventual winners and losers of each age group. This year, in keeping with the Small Sided Football philosophy, there were no losers. Everyone played 6 games and at the end of the day ALL went home with a participation ribbon and a smile (and somewhat tired legs). There is no doubt that this style of Gala Day was a success. It not only took the stress off the organisers in the official tent, it also allowed for families and coaches to relax and not count goals. Instead of competition, the huge crowd came together in a carnival atmosphere, with countless gazebos set up for picnics and resting areas between games. With over 50 teams playing on 13 fields there was standing room only at some games, but there wasn’t a grumble from anyone- the spectacle of all those happy children enjoying the fresh air and exercise kept everyone happy. Combine all that with the well stocked canteen for which ‘Coleen’s cafe’ has been famous for many years, and you have a recipe for success.

Thanks goes to all those who assisted before and on the day. A special mention must be made of the tidy manner in which the fields were left- there was little if any litter to be picked up. The organisers and volunteers who put in a very long day at the fields were all proud of the day and look forward to repeating it again in 2010. Thank you to all the children who participated and to the adults who inspired the good sportsmanship. (Thanks also to the weather gods who blessed us with a fine sunny day!)
